Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Program for Working Professionals
The College of Engineering Thalassery is pleased to announce the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Program for Working Professionals. This program is specifically designed to provide a structured pathway for Diploma holders who are currently employed, enabling them to acquire a B.Tech Degree in Engineering while continuing their professional careers. It offers a valuable opportunity to enhance technical expertise and achieve higher academic qualifications without interrupting current employment.
Duration of the Program
The duration of this program aligns with the standard lateral entry admissions to the second year of the B.Tech curriculum. The total course duration will be no less than three years, ensuring the fulfillment of all required instructional hours for the conferral of a B.Tech degree as per the B.Tech 2019 regulations.
Programs Offered
The following B.Tech specializations are available under this program, each with a limited intake:
- Civil Engineering (30 Seats)
- Mechanical Engineering (30 Seats)
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering (30 Seats)
Eligibility Criteria
Prospective applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for admission:
- Employment Status: Applicants must be professionals or employees currently working in a Registered Industry / Organization (Central/State Government, Private/Public Limited Company, or Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises - MSMEs). Proof of employment from the employer, in the form of an Employment Certificate, is mandatory.
- Work Experience: A minimum continuous period of one year of full-time employment in a Registered Industry / Organization is required. Applicants must submit a certificate from their employer confirming continuous employment and conduct, adhering to the format specified in the guidelines.
- Educational Qualifications:
- Applicants must have passed a Diploma examination in any branch of Engineering / Technology with a minimum of 45% marks (40% marks for applicants belonging to reserved categories).
- Alternatively, applicants holding a B.Sc. Degree from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) and having passed the 10+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject are eligible. B.Sc. stream applicants are required to clear the First Year Engineering Program subjects, specifically Engineering Graphics/Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics, as audit courses concurrently with their second-year subjects.
- Furthermore, applicants who have passed a D. Voc. Stream in the same or an allied sector are also eligible.
- Entrance Examination: Candidates must be qualified in the B.Tech Lateral Entry Examination 2025, conducted by the LBS Centre for Science and Technology.
- Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for applying to this program.
